It’s been another great week here at The Avenue. Whilst Diana’s been making her rounds of the nation’s gap fairs, the remaining Avenue team members have been working hard putting on a ton of excellent classes!
Tuesday brought with it another After School Class, and had the kids cooking up a deliciously moreish macaroni cheese. It’s great to teach young people great recipes that they can cook independently.
The week got sweet on Wednesday as we hosted our Macaron Masterclass. Richard showed the class how to make the perfect macaron meringue, and how to flavour and colour it for endless possibilities, before setting people loose to make their own. People left the class very satisfied and loaded with all the Avenue treats they had made!
We chilled out on Thursday, a rarity in our hustle and bustle kitchen, for our Yoga Cookery Class. Yogi Claire mentored the class through an amazingly relaxing one-hour yoga session, before Richard ran through a healthy-eating workshop, whipping up a tasty yet light soba noodle salad, followed by banana sorbet with berries for dessert!
On Friday, we rented out the kitchen for filming for BBC2, so make sure to watch out for us on your screens soon!
We don’t intend on slowing down for the weekend either! Especially as it brings with it Mother’s Day. If you’re in need of a last minute treat for your mama, how about a lesson in cooking the perfect eggs benny at our Sunday Brunch Class? Or if baking is more her thing, sign her up for our Ready Steady Bake Class!
Next week brings with it a week-long Really Useful Course, and we can’t wait to invite our next set of students into our kitchens! We’ve also got a Private Class in all things Fish, Simple Suppers, and our very special, one-off Butchery Class Event, our very-own meat specialist David Redman will be demoing butchery on half a pig!
