This week at The Avenue’s been as busy as ever, but of course there’s been lots of tasty treats shared along the way!
We rented out our kitchen to the lovely people at Koppert Cress for the first three mornings of the week! They stage events showcasing all the weird and wonderful herbs and how to use them. It was great to taste all the different herbs, and even better as they let us have all their leftovers!
Tuesday brought our weekly kids After School Class. The little-ones made their own tagliatelle from scratch, as well as whizzing up a quick pesto to top! Yummy!
On Wednesday we hosted our first ever Knife Skills Class. After a demonstration on how to sharpen, maintain and hold a knife, as well as the different techniques of using the knife, the chopping commenced! Putting their new knowledge to action, the students whipped up a minestrone soup to start, followed by sea bass on a ratatouille for main, and a deliciously sweet tarte tatin for pudding!
On Thursday we hosted our Gluten Free Class. Diana and Richard demonstrated how to cook the Italian classic, gnocchi, and with a madeline tiramasu for dessert, students got to enjoy a gluten-free feast! It’s great to learn master how to cook without gluten, and each class focusses on a different dish. Check out all our upcoming dates here.
And we are not slowing down for the weekend! We’re wishing Daisy a very happy 10th Birthday on Sunday as we host her and her friends for a special bake-off celebration. Red velvet cupcakes at the ready! If you have a birthday coming up, be sure to check-out our bespoke party packages here.
As well as this, in the afternoon, we are putting on our first ever Kids Weekend Cookery Class. These classes, much like our After School Classes, are great for those wanting to complete their DofE Award, or just to learn the vital life skill of cookery. We’re starting of strong this week, and will be teaching the little-ones how to make delicious Mexican Quesadillas!
Next week promises to be even bigger, as we host our Ladies Who Lunch, our fifteenth Dinner Party Dining Class, and a private vegan class, as well as much more. Stay tuned to find out more of our shenanigans here at The Avenue!
