Meet Olivia, October 2024’s Amigo of The Month! Learn all about her favourite classes and the delicious dishes she loved cooking with us, including Butter Chicken and Crème Brûlée …
How did you hear about The Avenue?
“My brother lives in Putney and had cycled past you guys loads and we had all been talking about coming for ages. He decided to book into a Bao Class with his girlfriend as a Christmas gift which I hijacked and jumped in on!” We are happy to be the receiver of the gate crasher in this instance!
How long have you been joining classes?
“The first class I came to was about 4 years ago”
Which classes have you done?
“Bao Class, the Indian Cooking Class, Beef Wellington, Korean Class, French Cookery Class” To name a few…
What was your favourite class at The Avenue?
“My dad and I have always enjoyed cooking together at home, so for his 60th birthday present I booked for us to come to the Beef Wellington Class which was really special. We haven’t been brave enough to try it ourselves at home yet though…” We will bet you can do it…no harm in trying, and send us a picture when you do!!!
What’s your favourite dish to cook that you learnt with us?
“Butter Chicken has become a special favourite in my recipe rotations, if I have some extra time I like to make the Naan too” Homemade curry – hard to beat!
What was your favourite dish to eat at The Avenue?
“Creme Brûlée still warm from blowtorching with singed fingertips!”
What is the most obscure thing you have made in the kitchen?
“I have chickens and am getting quite creative with uses for eggs. A new hobby has been ice cream making, the most bizarre flavour so far has been Earl Grey Tea which really divides the room” You and Rich will have a lot to talk about on this subject – next class…Ice Cream Class?
What class would you like to do in the future?
“Maybe a Soup class? Or Eggs! I am always on the hunt for new things to use them in” Ooooh an Egg Class! In the meantime we always have our Bottomless Brunch Class – Poached Eggs & Hollondaise are a perfect highlight of the diversity of eggs.
Any final comments?
“The Avenue is such a wonderful place with such fabulous staff. We always have a great time and can’t wait to keep coming back and recommending it to anyone who will listen”
It’s so moving to hear that you’ve made so many special memories in the kitchen with us, and that the cooking has continued at home! We’d love to try your ice cream sometime, and in the meantime, maybe you can finally make that Beef Wellington with your dad for Christmas!
