Well, good afternoon everyone! Here we are again to hit you up with this week’s Avenue Shenanigan’s.
If you guys weren’t aware already, it’s National Smear Week! Cervical cancer is the most common cancer in women under 35, yet one in three young women don’t attend their smear test and we wanna make a change! Did you know smear tests prevent 75% from cervical cancers developing? So boys and girls, grab your lipstick and join us!
Back on track, Monday was a surprisingly quiet day in the kitchen. We got our heads down for most of the day organising your Valentines plans.☺️ As you guys probably know already, we welcome almost anyone through our kitchen doors! So, whether you’re bringing a loved one, group of pals, or even your beloved dog (well maybe not – health & safety and all that!) – come and kick-back on Valentines Day with us. In Avenue style.
Our website is undergoing a lovely little make-over at the moment so Sophie spent most of the day making the final touches. The things we do for you guys! It’s been a long time coming so we are really keen to get the green light and show you all! Although it’s been a pretty slow month, Monday flew by! We headed home (in the cold British weather of course) and prepared ourselves for National Pie Day.
Boy, were we delighted to welcome Tuesday. Who knew a pie could make us so happy? 😏 The day spoke for itself really. We decided to think carefully about which recipe to share with you guys. Yes, a pie…but which pie? We decided on a Fish pie like no other…creamy filling sat underneath an umbrella of gorgeously plump, buttery mash. Its a super quick and easy recipe and one of our favourites! It was just perfect to celebrate national pie day – did we mention we love pies? Tuesday evening brought the likes of our Vegan fanatics! What a lovely Vegan Cookery class. By 7 pm the warm kitchen became showered with happy, hungry and ready-to-learn students! On the menu? Humous with Pita, Puy Lentil Moussaka and Apple Crumble with Coconut Yogurt. De-licious. The dishes went down a treat and minimal leftovers for us the next day – sometimes we don’t know we are working in a kitchen!
We forget how gorgeous the humous is 😍
If you didn’t know already, we are running an extra special, rumpy-pumpy Vegan Valentine Cooking Class! February is really creeping up on us, so book now and secure your spot. We’d be delighted to have you…
Wednesday = sushi sushi sushi! Yes, it was the day we’d all been waiting for. Our Sushi Workshop! It’s one of our most popular and tasty classes – a full class with 28 on this one! If you’re a sushi fan, you’ve gotta try Rich’s rolls…his Maki Rolls I mean. Truly spectacular if you ask us, darling!
If you fancy to become a Sushi Master just like Rich, come along to out Sushi in The City Class next week! We’ll be showing you the ropes, teaching you how to make the purrrrfect Sushi rolls and enjoying some extra-fab Japanese cuisine. Speaking of Sushi, that reminds us! We’ve got a tonne of WeWork Sushi demos lined up in the next few months and we are super duper excited! We’ll keep you updated on our first demo of the year. If a demo is something you’re interested in having at your workplace, get in touch! Here’s one we held last year at WeWork Aldgate East.
That brings us on to Thursday. A very busy day for The Avenue! The team met up at the kitchen in Wandsworth for a quick coffee and catch up before all teams were go go go! Sophie and Emily had a gap-fair to attend at Forest School in London and what a great day it was! Brownies at the ready the team huddled along and showed off our fab 1&2 week courses – Off to Uni, Yacht Host, Chalet Host and Basic to Bloomin’ Brilliant! It really is something to shout about. If you’re off to uni or perhaps a gap year and want to do some hosting in a chalet or a yacht just like many of the lovely Forest students, it’s worth checking out our course! With the first of many this year, we have 2018’s courses kicking off February half term!
We then celebrated a successful day in the pub clinking glasses as the not-so-prominent sun went down. What a lovely Thursday evening we had while Richard and Diana were getting stuck into Thursdays January Detox Class!! Another dreamy menu of course… succulent Spiced Sea Bass with Quinoa Salad. 😋To finish? Perfectly Poached Pears with Frozen Yogurt. This months Detox Classes have been an absolute success. It’s a shame they’re coming to an end but don’t you worry detox fans! We’ve got our Clean Eats Class on the horizon and the menus are flippin’ marvellous!
Here we are. Friday, we love you…Today we are waving goodbye to Sophie as she’s off to Northern Italy on a week-long, very belated honeymoon! Food & wine touring around Italy in a car with her partner in crime – Nah not jealous at all!
We’ll keep you posted with some gorgeous pics. Rich and Diana are also off skiing this weekend so everyone’s off on their travels! Alright for some…😏
The office will be quiet but the kitchen most definitely will not be! I’ll keep ya posted in next weeks shenanigans. Don’t forget to check out a lovey-duvey Valentine’s Class List below.
