Welcome to The Avenue’s Weekly round-up! It’s been a seriously busy week for us, with all sorts of foodie fun happening, and still more to come!

Richard proved his talent for DIY this Monday when he fitted The Avenue kitchen with some new tiles and a shiny new spice rack! It’s been great creating all this delicious food in a lovely new environment.

On Tuesday we had our weekly After-School Class, where the kids learnt how to make a perfect stir fried rice. We have a lot of young people working towards their DofE awards at the moment, so they’re keen to learn these useful new skills to put toward this worthwhile achievement.

The kitchen saw a wonderful event on Wednesday, where the Avenue kitchen was used to raise money for The Alzheimers Society. We love it when our premises can be used as a source for good! That evening we also had our first Fish Class with the lovely Robyn Moxon from Moxon’s Fish Bar, teaching our students how to fillet, bone and cook a variety of different fish.

Thursday morning saw the arrival of The Merlin School kids. Donned in homemade chef-hats, they were taught by Richard and Diana how to make delicious empanadas. They left in time for lunch back at school, very happy, and loaded with lots of Avenue goodies!

We’re also very excited for this weekend, as we have a hen party coming in on Saturday. We think the ladies will have a great time at their baking class, making macarons and Italian cream cake, whilst enjoying a glass of bubbly or two!
