Fri-yay is happenin’!

Friday’s means one thing and one thing only at The Avenue’s… Weekly Shenanigans! We’ve had another astounding week over here and we’ve got plenty of Avenue antics to fill you in on.

Can we have an Amen for Pasta Week y’allllllll!

We kick-started the weekend with an exclusive Private Class in Barnes taught by our lovely Chef Jason. The class started with the most delectable Baked Figs on a bed of bouncy Rocket alongside a generous portion of Gluten-Free Tagliatelle with a Mushroom Ragout, smothered in a Balsamic Glaze. Woah I almost run out of breath there. Delicious right?  Well, the foodie fanatics had only just begun. Did someone say dessert? Hell yeah. For pud, Jason and the class single-handedly created the most divine Lemon and Almond Torte we’ve ever set our eyes on. Or perhaps our taste buds. The afternoon air surrounding Barnes was filled with the subtle smell of bubbling figs and baked goods. Mmmmm. What a cracking way to start Pasta Week!

The following Sunday we continued our Pasta filled week with Ravioli. Ha ha. Our delightful Weekend Kids Class took the driving seat and drove full throttle into pillowy pasta heaven! The jam-packed class steamed through the afternoon with ease, setting up the exciting week ahead! With our Kids Weekend Cookery Class being one of the most popular (and enjoyable), make sure you book in the kiddos well in advance. You can book onto our next class here where we’ll be cookin’ up yummy Pita and Dips.

With an absolutely cracking start to the week, the arrival of Wednesday meant more pasta. We clearly can’t get enough. Our regular Pasta Workshop took the limelight with its famous creamy Pear and Ricotta Ravioli in a Walnut Butter Sauce. The fully booked class ran gracefully through the evening accompanied by various bottles of Vino students had brought along to share. Chink chink! The evening finished with an Avenue toast… cheers to Pasta Week! If this recipe tickles your pickle, we’ve posted it on our blog here so you can try your hand at it at home. Or for those of you who don;’t want to try making pasta solo for the first time…we’ve already planned the next Pasta Workshop in Wandsworth on the 14th of November or in our new City location on the 14th November. It’ll come around quickly so get booked here and here for the city. There are only a few places left so if you don’t quite manage to make this one, check the 2018 dates out too.

Thursday already? This meant a busy day in the office with a major re-jig! Boxes and Avenue leaflets being tossed around left right and centre. In fact, Rich actually managed to launch a handsaw across the office almost striking someone in the face. Thankfully, no one was injured. Time flew past and by 6pm the delicate taste of Sauvignon Blanc filled The Avenue. Diana began her cheese n’ wine tasting talk with students from our Really Useful, Off to Uni and Duke of Edinburgh Residential course who’d been slaving away in the kitchen all day! Prep began for the evening’s dinner party to celebrate this week’s progress! What a pleasure it’s been. Homemade canapes covered the table; Tomato and Goats Cheese Bruschetta, an assortment of Pâtés and crisp ‘n crunchy Melba Toast. As parents began to arrive the conversation continued to flow quicker than the wine! The warm atmosphere surrounded the Avenue and swept us blissfully to dinner time. Thanks to the lovely cookery students our plates were filled with sweet Coronation Chicken and Rice Salad! Delicious. Pudding soon came around and gorgeously plump and glowing Chocolate Profiteroles were washed down with mouth-watering Honeycomb Ice-cream. The evening was, of course, a success and Diana finished it off with  a presentation of the certificates, aprons, Avenue lanyards and for the most improved Chef of the week – Dylan, his very own Avenue tshirt! Well done guys!

Today we finally received our first delivery of Clarence Court Eggs! Our absolute fave. We’re over the moon and can’t wait to crack open these bad boys at Sunday’s Brunch Club. Bottomless Bloody Mary’s and the perfect Eggs Benedict. Hurry up Sunday! There’s only 1 spot left this Sunday, and if you don’t quite make it – don’t fear! Book onto the next one here on Sunday the 26th of November. We’ve also uploaded plenty of new dates for next year with the most exciting new classes. Yep you heard right, new classes! We’ve got a warming Roast Dinner Cookery Class, and enticing Indian Street Food Class and saucy Mexican Street Food Class. Our mouths are watering already…

Christmas is fast approaching and our new classes would make the perfect gift for family and friends. If you’d like to purchase an Avenue Giftcard click here and become the best present giver EVER. Anyway enough Christmas talk, it’s time to prepare for this afternoon’s Vegan Cookery Class. On the menu tonight we’ll be cooking Humous and Baba Ghanoush with Pita, Puy Lentil Moussaka and Apple Crumble with Coconut Yogurt. Mmmmm.

The Avenue team are now getting geared up for their trip to New York to watch and support Zoe in her marathon! For those of you that don’t already know, Zoe does private cookery lessons with us and this will be her second marathon supporting a charity close to her heart. Read her inspirational story here.

‘Till next time folks, have an amazing pasta filled weekend!
