Welcome back to this week’s Weekly Shenanigans Blog! It’s been another busy week here at The Avenue, with plenty of daytime and evening cookery classes to keep us all on our toes!
After a busy week end of Father’s Day Sunday Brunch celebrations, we had a short break on Monday before jumping back into classes on Tuesday, welcoming in the lovely Liz Wilson AKA. Ma Baker for an extra special Bread Class. The intimate class cooked up a vast array of different types of bread, including mini focaccia, seeded buns, soda bread and rye loaf; perfect with a hot bowl of spiced butternut squash soup!
Thursday of this week paved way for our Vegan Class. Richard taught the class an interesting and delicious plant-based three-course dinner party menu. Students got to cook up a deliciously light Aubergine and Sundried Tomato Pate with Melba Toast, followed by a wholesome Sweet Potato & White Bean Chilli with Guacamole and a scrummy Peanut and Chia Seed Pudding with Spiced Apples and a Nut Crumble for dessert!
On Friday, we opened our kitchens to a very special Charity Dinner Course, to raise funds and awareness for the #teamMikaere. This cause is very close to the hearts of a local family, who’s little boy Kai has Nonketotic Hyperglycinemia, a very rare metabolic disorder. Please check out this fantastic cause on their website here, and get in touch with Sam and Ely if you’d like to make a donation.
Diana and Emma have been busy this week, traveling all over the country to gap fairs from Oundle School in Peterborough, Kings School in Canterbury and Eton College. It’s so great to come and meet all our future students and chat about our extended courses for the summer! Watch out for us at your school gap and career fairs; free brownies included!
And we don’t intend on slowing down for the week end! The kitchen will be filled with delicious aromas during our Ready Steady Bake Class. We still have spaces of this class, if you’d like to book on. Students will be baking Carrot Cake, Red Velvet Cupcakes, Shortbread and Chocolate Brownies!
We’ve got fun for the little ones too, with our Kids Weekend Cookery Class, where Richard will be teaching how to make the perfect Lemon Meringue Pie! Yummy!
Next week promises to be even more exciting, as we welcome our first Really Useful Course of the Summer! We’re so excited to start the having classes everyday, and helping young people learn to cook for university and for their DofE Award, as well as for anyone looking to be a Chalet Host next ski season!
