Hello Avenue Amigos and welcome back to The Avenue’s Weekly Shenanigans. It’s been a shorter week than most due to the Bank Holiday Weekend, but a busy one nonetheless.
We kicked off the 4-day week on Tuesday Morning with our Young Holiday Classes. We had Jason running the courses with his wonderful assistants Harriet, Ali, Margot, Sarah and Molly! We love running our children’s classes, its a fun way to introduce kids as young as 7 to some really exciting food and get their taste buds tingling!
On Tuesday we started the class with a glass of refreshing homemade lemonade. The recipe was wonderfully memorised byone of the students Sam, who was sure to tell us that you should always use caster sugar for lemonade, because if you used icing sugar the lemonade would be too sticky, and that’s just silly! The kids then whipped up a feast of Focaccia Bread with fresh Pesto dip, Cream Cheese and Chive Ravioli, Hazelnut Roulade and Sausage Rolls to take home.
Wednesday was a very exciting day; we had guest chef Nikola in to teach the children how to make Burger Cupcakes! Nikola is a really talented cake baker and decorator. Everything on the cupcake was edible from the chocolate patty to the green imprinted ‘lettuce’ and ketchup! They also made some delicious Tortilla Wraps and Tuna Sushi rolls which they had fun rolling themselves and eating!
Our final day of Young Holiday Classes was Mexican themed! They gobbled down Cheese Quesadillas with Guacamole, Chicken Burritos and a Mexican Corn Salad. Then the real fun began with Jason showing everyone how to make Churros with Chocolate and Dulche de Leche Dipping Sauces – wow! If they weren’t full up by then, the class ended with the students making Jalapeno and Cheddar Rolls to take home with them.
We definitely had some future foodies on the course and we can’t wait to see some of you back again for our Weekend, After School and Young Holiday Classes throughout this term and over Christmas!
Our Basic to Brilliant, Off to Uni, Really Useful and Chalet Host Cookery Courses start again next week. We are fully booked for September but we have another class running from October 3rd. If you’re looking to take a Gap Year, or do a Ski Season, it’s not too late to find a job for you. Give us a call in the office or check out the courses and companies we have links with on our website.
Our evening classes all start again next week, we have a great selection including our Macaron Masterclass, Vegan Cookery Class and Gluten Free Cookery Class.
Check back in next week for some more Avenue Shenanigans!
