Another week has passed us by at The Avenue! Since we last spoke to you, we have been busy little bees! Here is this week’s Weekly Shenanigans to tell you all about it!

On Friday, Sophie and Richard packed up their weekend bags to spend two nights camping in the wilderness of… Surrey. However, being the foodies that they are, this wasn’t your regular camping trip. Unsurprisingly, the cold tins of baked beans and pot noodles were nowhere to be seen. Instead, Sophie, Richard and friends enjoyed an Avenue style feast, cooking what was previously believed to be impossible to cook on a campfire…

Oh, how wrong we were! Friday night started with a Spiced Lentil Ratatouille and warm home-made Focaccia, cooked on a stick, topped off with a generous amount of Jack Daniels, in true camp-fire spirit. To nurse ever so slightly tender heads the next morning, Sophie whipped up a truly delicious plate of Truffle Scrambled Eggs with our favourite Clarence Court Eggs and Truffle Hunter Black Truffle oil. If you think that’s impressive, just hold on to your hats folks, because the best is yet to come! Saturday night, Richard cooked… drum roll please… Duck Breast with Sautéed Thyme and Onion Potatoes. Please can I come next time?

While Sophie and Richard were eating like kings in Surrey, The Avenue kitchens were hired and taken over by a hen party. We handed over our keys and let the ladies cook themselves whatever they fancied for a hen party to remember!

Do you find yourself running out of new and exciting things to do with your children on the weekend? Well never fear, The Avenue are here! Apron in one hand, spatula in the other, drop the kids off and put your feet up and relax, safe in the knowledge they will be cooking up a storm in our kitchen rather than at home. Just to show that we go above and beyond, we took the kids weekend class on an Avenue school trip to China! Okay, maybe we didn’t actually go to China, but it tasted like we did! A couple of hours later and we had more delicious Dim Sum than you could shake a stick at! And with that, we handed the children back, full to the brim, and they went home with their revitalised parents. A real life Avenue fairy tale ending.

As we are here to help as much as we can, we also run After School Classes and we can promise you, The Avenue kitchen is much more exciting than school. On Monday, we believe that we were the reason that kids all over south west London were desperate to finish school… it was so that they could come and see us! The kids started off by making fresh lemonade, to quench their thirst while slaving away in the kitchen. Just kidding… if making Hazelnut and Meringue Roulade is slaving away in the kitchen, where can we sign up?!

As we have been running our week long courses for the majority of the year, we thought that we would take a step back and let others admire our fabulous kitchen. On Tuesday and Wednesday, our kitchen was privately hired during the day, meaning that we could still hold our ever popular evening courses. This Wednesday, we welcomed 12 keen cooks for our Dinner Party Dining Class, where they created a show stopping starter of Caramelised Chicory with a Gruyere Crumb. The main course was a mouth watering Confit of Duck with Braised Red Cabbage, Celeriac Mash and Demi-Glace, all finished off with Lemon and Almond Torte with Grand Marnier Parfait. Delicious.

Thursday evening, we opened our doors for a corporate event so that business folk could escape the office and embrace the pasta making traditions of Italy. With unlimited soft and alcoholic drinks available, it will only be a matter of time before news spreads that we are the ‘go to’ corporate party venue in the whole of London! If Wandsworth is slightly too far to travel, we have made the move and decided to expand further into the City! Everybody stay calm…its happening! We’re pleased to announce that a Kitchen in Old Street is now open to evening cookery classes and private corporate events. On Thursday, 14th December, we’ll be hosting our first EVER Pasta Cookery Class In The City

To tie up the week nicely, we are holding our immensely popular Peruvian Cooking Class this evening, where you will experience and taste the flavours of Peru without even having to leave London. Sounds ideal to me! As with the majority of our evening classes, there will be bottomless booze available to make the experience ever so slightly more special. On the menu tonight, we have Tuna Ceviche, followed by Peruvian Chicken with a Quinoa Stir Fry and a Spicy Coriander Sauce, all finished with a delightfully creamy and fluffy Arroz con Leche.

And that my friends is a wrap! Join us next week for another edition of The Avenue’s Weekly Shenanigans! It might seem like a long time away, but if your week goes as fast as ours does, then Friday will come around in no time! They do say that time flies when you are having fun!

Lots of love to you all
