Isn’t Friday great? We love Fridays at The Avenue. The end of the working week, the start of the weekend, and of course…The Avenue’s Weekly Shenanigans Blog Post.
Last week was rounded off with another visit from Ski Beat. They took over The Avenue to continue training up some of their Chalet Hosts for this winter season.
Richard also travelled to Barnes to teach a private class for a family. They cooked up a storm throwing together a Vietnamese feast. On the Menu they had Vietnamese Summer Rolls, Vietnamese Hot Pot with Rice Noodles and Black Rice Pudding with Mango Cheek.
You know what Sunday means? Brunch. And boy did we Brunch! We hosted our first ever #BoozyBloggersBrunch at The Avenue, inviting a few of our favourite brands to sponsor the event. We had Bloody Marys courtesy of Big Tom and Absolut Vodka, followed by Eggs Benedict using Belazu, Clarence Court Eggs, Warburton’s English Breakfast Muffins, Forman & Field Smoked Salmon and Denhay Bacon and Truffle Hunter. As if that wasn’t enough, after making their own versions of Eggs Benedict the bloggers sat at the dining table together and tucked into their feast with some Yeo Valley Yoghurt, PIP Organic Orange Juice, Julius Meinl coffee and Teapigs tea for good measure! The day was great fun and all the bloggers really enjoyed themselves. We can’t wait to host our next Bloggers event, but before then we are no gearing up to our Re-Launch Party on November 16th. Come along for a fun evening of food, booze and Avenue Shenanigans – all on us!
Sunday also saw another Kids Weekend Cookery Class. They kids learned how to make The Avenue’s version of the popular Chicken Katsu Curry, which we think went down an absolute treat. On Monday we had an After School Cookery Class, where they earned to make Quesadillas! Our kid’s classes are a great way to get your kids more excited about trying new foods because they cook them themselves! We run Weekend, After School and Holiday courses for all ages and abilities.
On Monday we stared the last of our Chalet Host Courses for the year (boo!) but that means that the ski season is just around the corner (hoorah!). We’re so excited for all our students to hit the slopes and show their guests just what an Avenue trained Chalet Host can do! Make sure you keep sending us photos of all your food tagging #AvenueCookery on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter. On Tuesday the students learned to pluck pheasant that Diana had bought home from a shoot at the weekend! We also had Rachel and Phoebe in from Alpine Elements to talk to the Chalet Hosts about working for them!
The amazing Zoe came in for another Private Class on Tuesday and Wednesday. She’s busy gearing up towards her second marathon, this time in New York! She’ll be leaving in under a month to go out to New York and we’ll be joining her to advise her on what she should be eating before and after the race and give her lots of lovely recipes to enjoy while she’s training in the UK.
On Wednesday we celebrated the wonderful Will’s 24th Birthday with an elaborately decorated Chocolate Malteaser cake. We also had our Knife Skills Class running in the evening. The menu for the evening was our delicious Spiced Butternut Squash Soup, Ratatouille with Sea Bass and Tomato Coulis and Caramelised Oranges.
We’re looking forward to a nice relaxing weekend, and we’ll be back for our Kids Weekend Cookery Class on Sunday where they’ll be making Homemade Lemonade and Hazelnut and Meringue Roulade!
See you next Friday!
