We’re introducing the newest face to our team today, it’s the woman behind the marketing, Heather! We’re not just excited to have her join our team but also to be celebrating her birthday and for you all to get to know her just a bit better…
So, as is our tradition, we’ve asked her a series of ten questions to find out about her past year and all her foodie habits.
What is your all-time favourite food?
I love the whole concept of a Sunday and the Sunday roast really is the cherry on top. It’s the ultimate comfort food and makes me feel very nostalgic as well as a great day out with friends/family etc! I don’t think you can beat it.
Do you have a favourite restaurant in London?
I do. I love Maggie Jones just off Kensington High Street. Named after princess Margret who used to go regularly and would always book under the name “Maggie Jones’. The food is delicious and very traditional but the atmosphere and décor are what make me love it! Perfect date night spot! (The wine could be cheaper!)
You are yet to take a class at The Avenue yet, which one are you most excited to try?
During the lockdown, I experimented a lot with bread and pasta from scratch, as many people did! I would say that I definitely could refine my skills in both of these areas but to be honest I’m hoping to make my way through as many as I can as they all look brilliant.
What has been your highlight of 2023 so far?
It’s only the beginning of March so it’s early days but getting a job at The Avenue has certainly set my year off to a good start!
If you could only eat sweet or savoury for the rest of your life which would you choose?
I have an undeniable sweet tooth and chocolate is my nemesis. But because I care too much about my waistline to eat sweets for the rest of my life, I will say savoury!
Are you a relaxing night in kind of birthday girl or will it be a party all night?
If you’d asked me this a few years ago I would be a party girl all the way but on the swift approach to 30, I actually prefer more of a chilled one… probably because my hangovers are too bad now!
Where has been your favourite place to travel✈️ to this year?
I’ve not been able to get away this year yet but last year I explored Italy for the first time, going to Puglia. I absolutely LOVED it and am hoping to go back to another part of Italy later in the year and eat as much pizza and pasta as I can! 🍕🍝
Do you have any advice that might help us all out in the kitchen?
Haha, I don’t think I’m in a position to give anyone advice but maybe one trick I use which is a good tip is if you’re hosting a dinner party, give your guests enough wine before dinner so they enjoy it regardless! 🍷
What is your favourite food combination?
I really like chilli and garlic with broccoli🌶️🧄🥦. I tried it from a recipe book once and I’ve never looked back – makes broccoli a whole different experience.
And finally, would you rather have chopsticks for arms or chocolate buttons for eyes?
I’d definitely rather have chopsticks for arms – if I had chocolate buttons for eyes, I wouldn’t be able to resist eating them. I’m not too shabby with chopsticks either so feel like I’d be able to get through life…
