Meet Emily Evans, our trusted and January Amigo of the Month…!

How did you hear about The Avenue?

‘Some friends of mine had discovered the cookery school as they were trying to cook more vegan and invited me to join them.’

How long have you been joining classes?

‘My first class was in August 2021, so I’ve been attending classes for nearly two and a half years now.’

Which classes have you done?

‘I’ve done a whole range of classes from Mexican, Bread making, Falafel, Tapas, Baking, Pasta making and Indian.’ What an amazing all round mix of classes – dinner parties at your house must be a winner!

What was your favourite class at The Avenue?

‘I’ve enjoyed all the classes I’ve attended. As the Mexican class was the first one I did, that will always have a special place in my heart.’

What’s your favourite dish to cook that you learnt with us?

‘I loved learning to make pasta from scratch and now own my own pasta maker.’ Although it’s not surprising, we are always happy to hear we’ve converted people to buy a pasta machine and make their pasta from scratch – it truly is delicious!

What was your favourite dish to eat at The Avenue?

‘All the food is delicious and it’s hard to have one favourite dish. Variety is the spice of life!’ Here here – couldn’t agree more!

What is the most obscure thing you have made in the kitchen?

‘I’ve never made anything that obscure. I tried making chocolate hummus once but it wasn’t all that good.’ That sounds pretty obscure to us!?

What class would you like to do in the future?

‘I’d like to do more Asian cooking. I’ve done the Indian class and would like to try the Thai, Vietnamese and Sri Lankan classes.’ Clearly into flavour punches – you speak our language!

Any final comments?

‘I’ve really enjoyed attending classes and improving my culinary skills.  Diana, Rich and the other teachers are all fantastic and make the classes fun as well as informative.  As a vegan, I have always been very well catered for.  I would definitely recommend to anyone who wants to learn more about cooking or just wants to try something different.’ This is lovely to hear!
