We are OPEN!

We are OPEN!

We are fully re-opening on 2nd December, and we can’t wait to get our cook on, especially with some extra needed Christmas spirit🎄🎅🏼🥂!

We know you probably have lots of questions, like … what’s the plan with regards to the government restrictions? Will there be social distancing? How many people will there be per class etc?  So here we go to help answer all your queries…

N.B. We are doing our best in the ever-changing covid climate and learning as we go so these precautions may change. If you are concerned please check again before your class in order to check for any updates.
We also recommend following our Instagram @AvenueCookery and join our mailing list at the bottom of this page to receive weekly up-to-date information.

COVID-19 precaution Q&A’s:

Do government restrictions affect your classes? With regards to the change of socialising outside your households, this does not affect us staying open and we will still be running our classes as an educational facility.

How many customers will be allowed in the kitchen at any one time? We have a maximum capacity of 30 people with no more than 6 people on each of our 5 cooking island.

What if we are not in the same household? It is our responsibility to do our best to keep you safe when you are in our space, but we don’t have the capacity to police ‘households’. As an educational facility we are free to run classes whilst following the social distancing restrictions where possible and it will be your responsibility to follow the government guidelines. We will assume group bookings are within the same household.
If you have already made a booking please note our T&C’s by clicking here.
Should you want to book with another household we can locate you on a cooking island together while maintaining distance between 2 separate households – please state this on booking.

Will the same apply to a private class? Private classes will run the same as our public classes with the same precautions in place.

1 & 2-week Courses, how will these run? As an educational facility we will be running under the government guidelines for schools and will implement these to the best of our ability. During your courses with us you will be partnered with one other, creating a social bubble of 2 while maintaining social distancing with the other students where possible.
Please note that this will be automatic on booking, however, should you be uncomfortable with this please do get in touch before booking to let us know and we can see if it is possible to accommodate you on your own.

Kids classes, how will these run? As an educational facility we will be running under the government guidelines for schools and will implement these to the best of our ability. During kids’ classes we will have tables of 6 kids. Please note that this will be automatic on booking, however, should you be uncomfortable with this please do get in touch before booking to let us know and we can see if it is possible to accommodate your child on their own.

If I drop my kids off at the school can I enter the school? For health & safety measures we ask you to drop your kids off at the door and to not enter the kitchen. A chef will be there to welcome them.
When you collect them please wait outside and your child will look out for you.

Will you be taking any precautionary tests on arrival? We will be checking everyone’s temperature with our contactless thermometer on arrival in order to limit the risk of spreading the virus. Please be aware that if your temperature is above 37.5C we will not be able to allow you into the cookery school.

Does everyone have to wear a face mask? Our chefs will be wearing masks throughout the class and should you wish to wear a face mask for extra precaution in between eating and drinking we encourage you to do so. As per government guidelines it will be mandatory for you to wear a face mask on arrival until you are seated at your island where you can remove your mask, as you will be eating and drinking during your experience. We also ask you to wear a mask if leaving your island when going to the loo and leaving after the class.

Will we need to wear gloves? No, we ask that you do not wear gloves. As suggested by the WHO, the use of hand sanitiser and washing of hands is more effective in the prevention of spreading the virus rather than wearing gloves.

Does everyone have to social distance? The kitchen is laid out in order for participants to respect social distancing rules. Our chefs will go round during the class to help customers while maintaining these guidelines to the best of their ability.

Will the kitchen be cleaned between each class? Yes, we have a minimum 2-hour slot in-between classes in order to sterilise the kitchen, loo and all public areas for the next class.

Will hand sanitiser be provided? Yes, we will have hand sanitiser available for everyone to use on their cooking islands.

Will there be access to a public loo? Yes, there will be access to a loo and we will have necessary precautions in place, including hand sanitiser on your islands.

Will I get a refund if the class is cancelled? Absolutely. If you booked a class directly (not using a voucher) and we unfortunately have to cancel the class, you will be offered a date transfer or a full refund.

What to expect at a class during these times? We will be reviewing this as we go, while we learn how to better deal with the new and everchanging practises for educational facilities, but to start with participants will have a designated cooking station, where they will be throughout their experience with us. This will include the demonstration, cooking and eating. Our large social dining table will need to be made redundant until further notice, however we will do our best to ensure a fun and social experience within the islands you are grouped onto.
Although this is not our most favoured way to be running our classes, we hope you will join us for some fun learning and help us to stick with these precautionary measures to reduce any unnecessary risks of spreading the virus.

Test and Trace – We use the NHS Test and Trace system. On arrival you will be asked to scan a QR code and enter your information.

If you have any questions or suggestions please don’t hesitate to get in touch, as you can imagine this is a learning process for us and all involved, and we hope together we can have fun while learning some new skills and maintaining the safety of everyone in the kitchen. Our email is info@theavenuecookeryschool.com.
