The Best Corporate Team Building Experience in London  And Why a Cooking Class Beats Everything Else

Let’s be honest. When someone mentions “team building” the collective groan is audible. Escape rooms, awkward trust falls, a pub quiz that nobody really wanted, we’ve all been there. But what if team building actually felt like a treat? What if your colleagues left the evening genuinely buzzing, talking about it for weeks, and actually closer as a team?

That’s exactly what happens at The Avenue Cookery School in Wandsworth, London — known by our customers as the most fun cookery school in London (their words, not ours but we’ll take it). We’ve hosted teams from Google, Netflix, Spotify, Vodafone, Red Bull, VISA and hundreds more, and the feedback is always the same: best team event we’ve ever done. Here’s why and three menu ideas to get you started.

Why a Cooking Class Works So Well for Corporate Teams

Cooking together does something that most team building activities don’t, it levels the playing field completely. In the kitchen, nobody cares about job titles. The CEO is rolling pasta next to the intern, both equally terrified of getting it wrong, both equally delighted when they don’t.

It’s hands-on, it’s social, it’s genuinely fun, and it ends with everyone sitting down together to eat the most delicious meal they’ve just made from scratch. There’s no PowerPoint. No awkward icebreakers. Just great food, great company and a shared experience that actually brings people together.

Add bottomless wine and a fantastic sound system, and you’ve got yourself the corporate event people will still be talking about in six months.

Three of Our Most Popular Corporate Menus

Pasta Workshop — 2 hours

Fresh pasta from scratch. Sounds impressive, feels achievable, tastes absolutely incredible.

Our expert chefs guide your team through mixing, kneading, rolling and shaping their own pasta from scratch — creating dishes like our show-stopping Creamy Truffle Mushroom Ravioli or Spinach & Ricotta with a Beurre Noisette. The class ends with everyone sitting down together to enjoy what they’ve made, which never gets old.

This one is brilliant for mixed groups of all abilities there’s something meditative about making pasta that gets even the most reluctant team members completely absorbed. It’s creative, tactile and deeply satisfying. And the results are genuinely restaurant quality.

Perfect for: team bonding, Christmas parties, welcome events for new starters.

Mexican Street Food — 3 hours

Bold flavours, serious fun and Churros with Chocolate Dulce de Leche Sauce to finish it off. Need we say more?

Your team will cook up a full Mexican feast, Chicken, Fish or Halloumi Tacos with a deliciously creamy Corn Salad, Mexican Red Cabbage, Guacamole and Pico de Gallo, followed by those Churros. Our chef kicks things off with a demo and then it’s all hands on deck, with everyone cooking their own dishes step by step before sitting down to enjoy an incredible homemade Mexican banquet together.

This one has serious energy. It’s vibrant, colourful, a little chaotic in the best possible way and absolutely delicious. The competitive spirit tends to come out during the Guacamole and we love to see it.

Perfect for: larger groups, summer parties, celebrating a big win as a team.

After a demo from our expert chefs, your team gets cooking, learning proper techniques and creating dishes worthy of any dinner party — before sitting down together to enjoy the full three-course spread.

It’s perfect for client entertainment, celebrating milestones or simply treating your team to something really special.
