Welcome to our jet setting addition of The Avenue’s Weekly Shenanigans!
We don’t know how your Sunday started, but ours kicked off with two delicious Clarence Court eggs, poached to perfection, resting on delicate slices of beautifully ripe avocado and thickly sliced smoked ham. Served on a bed of freshly homemade warm soda bread and finished off with the most delightfully rich hollandaise sauce that you ever laid eyes on.
Now imagine tucking into these incredible Egg Bennys with freshly made Bloody Mary’s, spiced just the way you like. That was how we spent our Sunday. It was that good, even some of The Avenue team came along and got stuck right in! Perhaps jealous your Sunday didn’t sound like an M&S advert too? Well luckily for you, we still have spaces left for our Sunday Brunch Club on the 26th November! If you book now, you’ll have 3 weeks to mentally prepare yourself for the best Eggs Benedict of your life. Yes, it really is that good.
Once we had thoroughly munched our way through the weekend, we came back on Monday, just in time for 9-year-old Marcus’s first private class with Diana! Diana didn’t want to just teach Marcus how to cook kids party food; instead, Marcus learned kitchen knacks that he will keep for life! Knife skills, cooking the perfect Leg of Lamb and Smoked Duck and Pancakes with Plum Sauce… Marcus is now the best 9-year-old chef in London. Fact. No, really its true. Oh, and just because we are in the spirit of giving, we took even more children on our Monday afternoon After School Class. These lovely, fresh faces cooked a delightfully creamy Risotto to take home and proudly show off to their parents. We like to think that we are the helping hand to give you the cookery bragging rights that you deserve. You can thank us later… in person… at one of our classes… (wink wink).
On Tuesday, in honour of Halloween, (otherwise known as the favourite day for sweet toothed children everywhere,) we popped Mr. Pumpkin in the window and decided to treat you all with some spookily good sales! This is not a trick, everyone stay calm. Our Vegan Cookery Class, After School Class, Kids Weekend Cooking Classes, Ladies Who Lunch, Peruvian Cookery Class, Sushi Workshop and our Ready Steady Bake Class are all on sale!
On Wednesday, our absolute favourites and official sponsor of, Clarence Court delivered our Quail Eggs for our Re-Launch Party canopies! This is it. It is officially happening. We are so excited!
That evening, once we had calmed down after our first Re-Launch Party delivery, we held our Simple Supper Class to prove to you that simple does not mean basic! Our class sipped on unlimited booze while whipping up and tucking into a delicious meal of Spiced Pan Fried Sea Bass with Pearl Barley and succulent Tenderstem Broccoli. Seasonal Stewed Rhubarb and a delightfully creamy Yoghurt Brûlée tied our Simple Supper Class together nicely, meaning that everyone went home nice and full (and slightly tipsy).
Thursday was a dark day at The Avenue. Not just because the clocks went back, but because our very own rays of sunshine, Diana, Richard and Sophie Horsford left the office crew to hop across the pond to the Big Apple. Never fear though, they’ll be back next week, just in time for our Sushi Workshop Supperclub on Wednesday evening…if we survive that long without them.
Okay maybe we were slightly over dramatic. The Avenue jet setters have gone to New York for a really good cause! One of our most dedicated students and Avenue Amigo, Zoe, is running the New York Marathon this weekend to raise money for SPARKS Charity, specifically towards pioneering medical research into premature birth. To help Zoe further, we will be supporting SPARKS at our Re-Launch Party on November 16th. We recommend you read Zoe’s truly inspirational story, including how she ran the London Marathon, despite being told she would never walk due to her Cerebral Palsy. It really is an amazing read! From all of us at The Avenue, GOOD LUCK ZOE!
That just about sums up our week, and what a week it has been! Check back with us next Friday for a Re-Launch Party planning addition of our Weekly Shenanigans!
Hugs and kisses,
The Avenue MWAH xox
