We have had a great week enjoying the summer sunshine at The Avenue. Diana drove to Malborough & Repton for their Gap Fairs. It was fabulous to meet some new friends and students and give out lots of our gooey Chocolate Brownies. We are really looking forward to seeing some of you at our Extended Courses, which start in a few weeks!
We had the young‘uns back in the kitchen for our After School Class. They made a Vietnamese Hot Pot – probably not weather-appropriate but a great recipe staple and delicious nonetheless!
Our beloved Zoe came in for another private lesson on Tuesday and Wednesday and did celebrate the lovely weather by making some summery desserts including a gorgeous Raspberry pavlova tower and some magical Unicorn Meringue kisses!
We welcomed Queen’s Gate School back for the 3rd year running with a day of culinary craziness! We started the day with fresh homemade Lemonade and Victoria Sponge and the students cooked up a tasty Quiche and a mouthwatering Chocolate Roulade, which didn’t last long enough for a photograph!
Last night we had another of our Fish Classes. Teaching how to filet a fish and sear scallops to perfection amongst a host of other fish dishes. Guests cooked their 3-course dinner, which they then sat down round the dining table to eat with a flow of wine. These dishes were mouthwatering Scallops with Pea Purée, followed by Pan Fried Sea Bass with Rustic Squash, Samphire and a Dill Velouté Foam all rounded off with Lemon Possets with Rosemary Thins that were so easily whipped up by the chefs.
We are a bit too excited about another Spanish Tapas class this evening. We’ll all be tucking into some tasty dishes, including Prawns Pil Pil and Pincho Moruno Chicken Skewers – yum!
