Basic Cooking Days
Our Basic Cooking Days are perfect for those who want to learn some basic culinary skills. With the help of our experienced, friendly and knowledgeable chefs, by the end of this full day class you will have prepared a top-notch two course lunch and multiple other dishes. You’ll leave The Avenue doors with a new found confidence in cooking – that’s a promise!
The Basic Cooking classes are individual days that make up our week-long Really Useful Course but during some weeks we offer those who can’t join the full week the option to join for individual days. You will need to start on Day 1 and then if you can, work your way through the course. This is the best way as the course is structured for participants to progress from the beginnings and improve throughout the week so if you were to join later in the week you will be left behind and the chefs wont be able to fill you in.
Each morning kicks off with a demonstration, showing you how to prepare the dishes you will be whipping up throughout the day. Our chefs will go through essential skills, teaching you about each dish and how to cook it alone and, wait for it – without a cookbook! It may sound daunting but never fear, our chefs will be there the whole time to offer guidance and support where needed.
Each day is packed with hands-on and creative cooking tasks that will keep you wanting more. If you really can’t bear to leave the kitchen, complete the full week where you’ll be guided through the more intensive course of a full week, each day covering new skills and dishes. Please see here for our menu plan (these Basic Cooking Days are from Week One).
Dinner Party animal? Well, you’re in luck! Day 4 will be spent prepping the food and the beautiful kitchen for the dinner party held for your family and friends (each person gets the option to invite a couple of people at no extra cost). Starting off with a wine & origins of alcohol talk before the guests arrive at 7pm when the evening festivities begin. If you are keen to join in you can book Day 4 + evening meal to showcase your new found skills amongst great food and company. What more could you possibly ask for?
Whether a day or the full week you will leave feeling surprised at how much you have learnt!
