The 2-Week Chef/Host Cooking Course is designed for those wishing to obtain a job where they will be hosting and/or cooking; be it for families as a nanny, for company villas, Scotland lodges or maybe for simply learning how to make hosting your friends and family that much easier!
The course has been tailored specifically to help those wanting a hosting / cooking role, whatever or wherever that job may take you. It covers all aspects including; cooking, hosting skills, budgeting, shopping, menu planning and cleaning.
With years of experience in the industry, not just working as hosts but also successfully running our popular Host Cooking Courses since 2004, we really know our stuff and you get decades of knowledge and experience in a condensed form in just 2-weeks. We are very aware of the demands of the job as well as the fabulous opportunities and fun there is to be had with this type of work so we will prepare you in the most professional, effective and exciting way to ensure that you have confidence in the kitchen and other necessary areas so you can complete your job to the best of your ability.
Being in the industry for many years has gained us excellent connections with companies who are looking to hire, which not only means we can help you land your dream job but that we are also aware of the ever changing requirements with regards to skills required. This inside knowledge enables us to teach you effectively and help you through the recruitment process, which we do by giving helpful tips in writing your CV and cover letter as well as checking it over for you before applying for roles. We help as much as we can but don’t forget, securing a job is down to you and the hard work you put in!
At the end of the course you will be awarded an acknowledged Avenue Chef / Host Cooking Course Certificate – exciting things are awaiting you, trust us! Think of The Avenue Host Cooking Course Certificate as your passport to literally anywhere!
Everyday will begin with a demonstration of the mornings menu, which will include your lunch amongst many other delicious things. You will then get to work cooking and then sit for lunch. After lunch you will have an afternoon demonstration followed by more hands-on cooking – what better way to learn than to get your hands dirty!
Each day’s layout is the same but of course offering different recipes so you will leave with a huge repertoire of culinary delights to ‘WOW’ your guests.
*The first Thursday you will hold a dinner party for friends and family, everyone getting to invite a couple of guests each. As a team you will cook and host the evening yourselves while all your guests wine and dine – don’t forget you are not just the chefs you are the hosts so you have to ensure you manage your time effectively so you still have time to ‘schmooze’ your guests when necessary!
*Sadly due to COVID-19 we are unable to host the Thursday party until further notice and instead we will finish at 5pm.
At the start of your course you will receive your Avenue Cookbook, Avenue Host Bible and the means to complete your Food Safety Level 2.
Last minute – worried of job availability? Companies are always recruiting, depending what kind of job you are looking for, but remember there is always a job somewhere! The most important thing is to work hard, be proactive and of course we will try our utmost to help you find that dream job!
