Volunteer Photographer & Videographer Opportunity at The Avenue Cookery School

Are you a budding photographer or videographer looking to build your portfolio while capturing fun, fast-paced foodie content? 📸🎥

At The Avenue Cookery School, we’re always on the lookout for creative, enthusiastic people to help capture the magic of our cooking classes, events and behind-the-scenes moments.

We’re a family-run cookery school based in a cosy kitchen in Wandsworth, led by Diana and her children Sophie and Richard. Diana and Rich head up the kitchen while Sophie runs the business side of things. Our mission is simple: helping people of all ages and abilities truly understand food – all while having a blast!

We run over 80 hands-on cooking classes and love creating warm, relaxed content that showcases genuine moments, delicious food and people having fun together.

The Opportunity

We’re looking for English-speaking volunteer photographers and videographers to capture selected classes and events.

This is a fantastic opportunity for anyone wanting to:

• Build their food, lifestyle or event portfolio
• Gain experience shooting in a lively real-world environment
• Practice capturing people, food and social moments in a fast paced environment
• Create engaging short-form video/reel style content
• Work with a fun and welcoming team

This is an unpaid volunteer position giving those who are looking to expand their experience a mutually beneficial experience and exposure in crediting your work across our social media channels when used.

What the Role Involves

Depending on your skillset and interests, you may help with:

Photography

• Capturing cooking classes from start to finish
• Photographing food, people, chefs and the venue
• Taking natural candid shots of guests cooking and dining
• Capturing on-brand food pictures of final dishes
• Editing and sending final images for marketing use

Videography & Content Creation

• Filming short-form vertical content for Instagram and TikTok
• Capturing behind-the-scenes footage during classes
• Recording chef demonstrations, reactions and plating shots
• Creating fun, relaxed foodie content and reels

You’ll be asked to arrive slightly before customers arrive to get set up and stay until the end of the classes to capture the finished dishes and group dining experience.

We’re Looking For Someone Who Is:

• Friendly, relaxed and proactive
• Confident interacting with participants
• Comfortable working in a busy environment (classes can have up to 28 guests)
• Reliable and organised
• Passionate about food, events or storytelling
• Open to constructive feedback
• Experienced using their own camera/video equipment

Formal qualifications aren’t required, but experience with photography or videography is essential.

Additional Information

Our classes run across weekdays, evenings and weekends, and we can be flexible around which sessions you attend.
