Happy Birthday Daisy!

Happy Birthday Daisy! Ever wondered what our sunshine-in-human-form gets excited about when it comes to food? We asked Daisy the big questions and her answers are every bit as joyful as you’d expect…

Imagine you’ve just been handed the keys to your very own food truck – what’s it called, and what deliciousness are you serving up?
I’d call it The Kitchen Garden and I’d serve all sorts of delicious, seasonal salads. Fresh, beautiful and straight from the garden.
We’d eat there every day. 🥗

What’s your wildest, most chaotic food combo that somehow works… and would probably make Gordon Ramsay gasp?
Sweet potato and crunchy peanut butter. I know it sounds horrid but it’s actually weirdly yummy! We think that sounds great!

We all have them – which dish secretly makes you side-eye other people ordering it?
I’m not super judgy when it comes to food, but I was once in a restaurant and someone asked for extra rocket on their pizza, which I think slightly defeats the object of having a pizza? We get you – either order salad or order Pizza! 🍕

You’ve woken up with a hangover from the depths of hell – what magical meal or snack brings you back to life?
Shreddies. I know that doesn’t sound very professional, but they’re my go-to when I can’t face anything, like a big hug in a bowl!!

On your travels beyond the UK, what’s the meal you can’t stop thinking about? The one that made you go “wow, this is unforgettable”?
A Piadina in Italy, a type of flatbread folded in half, stuffed with prosciutto, rocket and mozzarella. Super delicious. I would have that any day!! Italy really does have a way of ruining all other food forever. 🇮🇹

Back on home turf, what’s a memorable meal you’ve had in the UK? Bonus points if you tell us the restaurant and the dish – we’re secretly mapping out the ultimate foodie trail!
I went to one of my favourite restaurants in London Wild By Tart and ordered the Choccy Mousse with Hazelnut Ganache for pudding. It was literally what dreams are made of. I keep wanting to recreate it!!

What is the best biscuit and don’t hold back, we want the full justification!
Hobnobs, they just make all your problems go away!

If you could only eat one type of cuisine for the rest of your life, what would it be, and why would it never get boring?
Middle Eastern food! I love the different types of interesting salads and I could basically live on hummus and pitta bread.

What’s the one item or condiment you reach for most in your kitchen – the unsung hero of all your cooking?
Maldon salt – it just has a way of making everything taste delicious!

Hard-hitting foodie question: Which supermarket is your ultimate favourite and what’s the one thing you absolutely can’t leave without?
Definitely M&S, I always get so excited walking in, it just makes my heart sing!

From her Kitchen Garden to a hazelnut ganache that she still dreams about, Daisy brings the same warmth and enthusiasm to food as she does to everything else. Just don’t put extra rocket on her pizza. Happy Birthday Daisy! 🎂🌿
